Local knowledge: Pass beneath either of the spans to the right or left. Some years ago, we encountered two tugs with barges at night under the center span, coming in the opposite direction. We were under sail. Our helmsman did some pretty fancy maneuvering as we threaded that needle. That's as close to a tug I ever want to be. We've since learned to avoid the problem, altogether. We use the right or left.
@Janissary22 Yup. This was shot passing through the eastern end. It's generally a good idea to stay clear of the heavy shipping lane, but especially through the bridge.
