The Eastern Cape of South Africa is one of the poorest provinces in South Africa. Many families cannot even afford to give their children a good education. A 14-year-old-boy gives his own account of what it means to get a good education.

  • Education is every ones right.

    Childrean must be at school.

What is the goverment doing about the education system there.

Education has to be avb to every one and not only a seleted few.

  • just goes to show that despite the poverty and problems we have in the '3rd world', at least we have our priorities straight. travel any were in the west and stop a 14 year old kid and talk to him/her. chances are that he/she will not measure up to his/her age mates in the '3rd world'. i know, am from the 3rd world studying in the uk...

  • The gov't doesn't care because they are too busy pleasing the rich over in Clinton bay area...building million dollar homes and conducting tours. Poor kid....hope he becomes the scientist and artist he longs to be.

  • @Nikitns How would you know? I would like to know?

  • The boy is right in what he says " If everyone is educated we wont have thieves" I agree but also if we had a criminal Justice system that wasnt failing thieves would be locked up and tought what is wrong from right. People who steal, rape and kill need to be taught a lesson, everyone regardless, educated or not know right from wrong, the problem is they get away with it.

  • @Nikitns Well my son is doing business with me. And things 80% of his classmates are learning in school now is totally useless to him. And most of those 80% are biding time until graduation and falling behind in life in my opinion. BTW you should not jump into a conversation and call someone "Retard". It makes you look like a punk. And probably stupid as well.

  • @prrolg you are also a retard. The government SHOULD be in complete control of education and ALL other social institutions.

    "Parents in control"? lol imbecile

  • @nataliedutoit24 natalie, piss off you imbecile.

    Apartheid was a disease.

The reason that S. Africa is dirt poor is because it always has been.

  • After the democratic party came in 1994, they increased funding... supposedly now it is supposed to be what, 25% on education? Sure... I agree that it hasn't gotten much better since apartheid times. And what's the worst is that kids like this one right here truly WANT to learn and want to be scientists and doctors and mathematicians, yet they are being treated the same way as 50 years ago, when the government was preparing blacks for manual labor jobs under the oppression of whites.

  • "so called freedom" these schools look just the same as they did in the apartheid years, 16 years later and the blacks are now opressing eachother but whites 50years down the line will still be blamed for apartheid and the reason for their failure. If no europeans went to s.a in the begining an eductation system to this day would not exsist in south africa. Its just the African way I guess.

  • Superfoiling.comhas all math techniques.

  • yes zuma should focus on education and help these people
