Nigeria e-Passport Chaos in Manchester. Could this be a SCAM or Broad Day Light Robbery or Organised Rip-Off from Abuja? Many bewildered Nigerians living in Manchester & London UK are told to go home and hope for the best after majority of them have paid upward of $65, plus £20 processing fee per e-Passport application (plus - ""unconfirmed tips") which the officials from Imigration Services Abuja refused to confirm how and when these Nigerians could get their e-passports or their money back. UK Police were drafted in to sort the mess.

As the Big Book says "The harvest is plentiful but the labourers are very few". The Immigration boss from Abuja spent two weeks "holidays" in Northern Ireland processing only 150 applications, living him with only few days to process Manchester - the biggest Naija City outside London. Contrast that with 240 applications he processed in Manchester on the first day. According to him, the number has grown in geometrical proportion since then and he is calling on his bosses back home in Abuja to either extend his team's stay in Manchester to get the job done. Otherwise, many Nigerians living in these great cities of London and Manchester will be asking for their money back.

News from London claimed that more than 500 Nigerians decended into Nigeria High Commission - Immigration Tuesday from as early as 3am to join the queue for processing their e-passports when a confusion broke out. The police we understand has barricaded Nigeria High Commission to stop more vulnerable school children and babies from being crushed.

This is yet another self inflicted tragedy for Nigeria. This is a personal plea from Nigerians in Manchester to the Hon President of the Federation, and all powers that be in Abuja to please, please and please "Come over to Macedonia and help us" or simply send more resources. This new e-passport should be a thing to celebrate, a nice day out for the whole family and not another gasp of naija_mess.
Reporter - Dr Don Okpalugo ( "We've been let down yet again by the powers that be - Not a good example for our children born here to look up to their Naija-ness)
