I remember this show, I have this record I got during World War II. On my Gene Autry record it says written by Vincent Rose, the lyrics by Al Lewis. I remember alot of these great westerns at the picture show.

Unlike today, in the 30s and 40s many records of the same song were put out by many different artits. Louis Armstrong also had a great record of this song in the 50's. Its on YouTube.

It was a popular song. I read that it was recorded 6 times in 1940; the biggest hit being the Glen Miller version, then was featured in the Gene Autry film "The Singing Hill" in 1941.
It must have made the song writers a fair bit of money just in the first year.
