Add a second hard drive to a laptop by replacing its CD/DVD Optical drive. Works with laptops with a standard CD/DVD Optical drive.

  • We have a listing for the M15x. Visit our site and search for M15x on the top right.

  • What laptop do you have?

  • Hello humblehard,

It is possible. You should be able to set via the BIOS "boot option" after adding the 2nd drive.

Sorry, we don't have any distributors in South Korea.

    Thank you

  • Why would you wanna do that?

  • Hello stsilas01

    Here are some reasons:

    1) A lot of laptop users rarely use their Optical Drive, but need more drive spaces for files. Adding a 2nd drive is a good way to bump up drive space.

    2) Some notebook users want "dual boot capability" on their laptops

    3) Some users want to add SSD to their laptop (solid state drives)

  • @newmodeUS Another good reason is if you've made the main drive on your laptop a SSD (which I highly recommend) but want a normal drive for things that will write frequently to the drive (thus reducing its life) OR for storing large files (movies music etc) that don't need the SSD speed boost and would use up your SSD space premium fast, OR use as a builtin backup drive.

  • PINOY KA PRE... GALING NANG VDO INFO MO AYOS!!!!

  • Hi! is it possible to add a firewire connection instead of the drive? dont know much about this things...

  • Any distribution to south america?

  • @1misanthropist Newegg bro.

  • Never mind my last statement. I just found the universal 12.7mm 2nd hard drive optical bay caddy for $14.49 on Amazon. Should fit my 15.6 compaq cq60 notebook just fine. Thanks for video though, it should make the transfer a breeze. 1 QUESTION, since I can't afford an ssd, do you know where I can get a 1tb ,2.5inch ,16mb cache , sata 3, 7200rpm hard drive? The best I'VE found is a 5400rpm or 750gb in that configuaration. Since the optical bay will fit a 12.5mm drive I thought I'd go with 1tb.

  • what's the cheapest those optical bay hard drive caddys run ? Where at- tigerdirect, new egg, or amazon?

  • good job :)

  • can this be done with Macbooks?
