Thai king bhumibol Painting is another branch of art in which His Majesty has shown interest in since a very young age. He learned to draw and paint by himself. He began to paint seriously around the year 2502 after ascending to the throne. The paintings were done during his spare time from royal duties and they are mostly of Her Majesty the Queen and the royal children. During the bicentennial celebration the Fine Arts department was given royal permission to hold an exhibition of His Majestys paintings at the National Museum. Although His Majesty was occupied with royal duties and devoted most of his time to solving the problems that his subjects were facing, he was still able to provide forty-seven paintings for exhibition.
