Invitees Cyril Abidi, Stefan Leko, Michael McDonald and Phillipe Gomis were favourites to win the K-1 Dream tournament, with the other participants being Samir Benazzouz, Zijad Poljo, Alexander Semenovich and Kirkwood Walker. Rumoured participant Igor Vovchanchyn would indeeed make his first (and only) K-1 appearance, but it would be against multiple time World Grand Prix champion Ernesto Hoost, and was a non-tournament super-fight. Hoost stopped the brave Igor with low kicks in round 3. Also on the card, Peter Aerts and Sam Greco squared off in a bout between kickboxing and muay thai world Heavyweight champions. Aerts won by head kick in round 2.

The tournament winner was Stefan Leko. He drew Gomis in the quarter final, and knocked him out with a right cross in round 1. He drew fellow favourite Cyril Abidi in the semi-final, and outclassed him, earning a wide decision over the dangerous Frenchman. Surprisingly, the expected final of the Leko/Abidi winner versus Michael McDonald did not transpire, as The Black Sniper had bowed out to Polja in the quarter final, who in turn lost to Benazzouz. So it was Leko versus Samir in the final, and it ended with a right lowkick to the lead leg that crumpled Benazzouz, and Leko was declared tournament champion.
