Over the last couple of weeks me and Matti Bye have been working on an album of music inspired by the circus. This project has been a wonderful collaboration and the material we have recorded so far sounds nothing short of eerie, funny and amazing.
In this short film Matti is playing the Maas-rowe Vibra-chime. The Vibra chime is a bell set created in the early 50s that you were supposed to use together with a church organ. It has a keyboard with small keys and has tube amplification. This set comes from a church in Pennsylvania.
I have worked with Matti before but oddly enough we have never actually recorded anything. Matti is a very well known composer for film scores and he has also written music for silent movies as well playing live to the actual film.
This film was shot at Roth Händle studios in Stockholm. It is where I spend most of amy awake time recording the instruments that are there. In 1997 I bought my first Mellotron and then a couple of months later a MIni Moog and the studio has grown steadily since then. In 2001 I got my first own room at an old abandoned shipyard and I have since then moved twice. The studio is now located in Sundbyberg (about 15 minutes from Stockholms central). If you are curious about the studio, booking, blogs and/or the instruments that are there please take a stroll by www.roth-handle.nu
The studio is available for booking
Hey hey...
I think he is checking out the mechanics of the instrument with the tuned bars and all...
More little films up today...
