@nathanallan1 If the only difference between MFM and RLL is formatting, I have no idea. If there's a physical indicator I'm missing, I'll double check. I don't know what kind of board is in it. It's mostly blocked by the monitor, which I don't want to remove at this point in time. It's got a Kalok Octagon drive in it, and I think the original Compaq graphic controller. There's a third party midi card, I'd like to get the program off the drive, and a card with a DB9 port on it. That's about it.
@silntdoogood What is the model number of that drive? A quick google search tell that the Kalok drives are failure prone. Just sayin. Cool machine, even as a rebuild.
@nathanallan1 I'll get the # next time I have the case open. It's one of the most obnoxious cases I have ever dealt with. I know they are prone to fail (the scary part is I rely heavily on my Seagates :\ ) and I know the problem in this particular case. The previous owner who built this system (and modded the board and cards to fit like this) said jarring the drive would start it. Anytime I move anything on this system even when it's only attached by cables, it crashes.
Is there an MFM or RLL drive in there? What kind of IBM parts are on the inside?
