Hopefully folks will be able to hear the difference my changes have made to the amp. My guitar strings are VERY old at this point, and I should have put a fresh set on to really give the best tone, but I wanted it to be as close to the previous video as possible. I even set the amp up with the same controls as the previous video, even though, its probably going to sound better at different settings now that the changes have been made.

Things to note that are different from a stock super reverb:

• SS Rectifier
• EV speakers
• Trem Disconnected
• Normal Chan. Disconnected
• All tone and coupling caps changed
• All cathode bypass caps changed
• 7581a Power Tubes
• PPIV master installed
• A few other "changes" :)

Amp Settings:
• Bright: ON
• Volume: 9
• Treble: 8
• Mids: 6
• Bass: 2.5
• Rev: 2
• PPIV: 10 then 7 then 4 then 1.5

The video shows me keeping all the settings the same, and just turning the PPIV volume down in stages. The volume drop you hear in the video is the actual volume that happens with the PPIV master. Its even more dramatic in person.

Feel free to ask questions.

  • Ok, that's it...Im going back to a Fender Super Reverb. Thanks alot, now I have to go without food and shelter for a month but I'll be rock'en on the street corner! LOL

  • @007snipershot

HA! YES! Enjoy sweat tones and poverty:)

  • which model EVs are those, please?

  • @ichisatori

EVM 10m Speakers. No longer made. Hard to find.

  • did the EV's have THE biggest huge noticible dif in tone? You nailed a SRV tone. I have a 67 blackface super and a 73 silverface that both have Jensens in them.(blackface has jensen alnico and ceramic mix). TO the guy that does not want to be a dick. if you dont have a reference tone how do you know how to compare. Same goes to people who demo certain hendrix style pedals and do not play the artists songs.

  • @jrrinehart

They are a pretty big leap in the right direction. Speakers/tubes/transformers are the biggest factors in how an amp sounds. EV speakers are so even throughout the frequency spectrum that its like taking a blanket off your amp.

  • why does everyone use super reverbs for SRV tone? he used a vibroverb didnt he? I guess 10's are closer to a 15 than 12's. do you do the transformer mods and mistmatch? how do you implement the SS rec?

  • @richieryan45 srv had an SS rectifier

  • Great tone,dude... When I read SS Rectifier, I was worried, but damn! :-D

  • wooow!!! nice tone guys!!!!

  • @007snipershot dude i literally have no furniture except for a bed....and sitting beside that bed is a fender super reverb a g&l legacy special and about 900 bucks in pedals ....ill buy a couch....one day

  • Yep, you channeled SRV there quite well for a bit! I wanna say that the only thing separating you two is the playing technique! Good show man! Keep it up!

  • This sounds really good!

Kinda reminds me of the tone im getting with my Twin reverb cranked with a TS-808 clone.

But hey! dont forget that you seem to got that great blues-feel you need to get that nice sound.

    Keep up the good playing!
