Robert Carlyle is next 'Stargate' leader.
"Described as edgier, darker and younger-skewing than its predecessors, "SGU" follows a group of soldiers, scientists and civilians left to fend for themselves when forced through a Stargate after their hidden base comes under attack. The survivors, who emerge aboard an ancient ship missing in the far reaches of space, are led by Dr. David Rush (Carlyle), who works to unlock the ship's mysteries and return the group home but also might have ulterior motives."

The last seasons of DS9 were really great. Besides of all the religious crap.

its because its A LOT older than anything we saw in Atlantis.
It looks closer to what we saw in SG1 (headsucker device for example) than SGA.
Its like our own culture, we have gothic architecture, baroque, etc, so its not surprising that Ancients changed a lot in how they build things during a few milenia.

The concept art is better than the actual show :/.... as one might notice, there is actually light in these images that you dont see in the actual show...

To me it look smore like ST: Voyager than anything, and if im honest it looks like a total rip off of if actually.
still going to watch it though

hopefully not in the same way as DS9 was with ST, that was designed to be set in the same universe but very different to TNG and TOS and look how that turned out

514 your actually wrong about it taking place in the present. It takes place earlier because if you go to their website and look at the cast it will say "Everet young" Colonel Everet from SGA season 1 episode 19

no it takes place in the present after the events or during the events of SGA's "enemy at the gates"
