Nice. KCAL here in Los Angeles could learn a few things from this opening (it uses the same 6-note signature, and a similar arrangement).

No. The "viacom mandate" is where all of the stations converted itself to "CBS" and the channel number. A lot of the stations didn't follow that request (such as WCCO and WBZ).
The star is to represent Texas being "the Lone Star State." That logo is familiarized with KEYE before that station was bought by Four Points Media.
