This is certainly not exclusive to African Americans. This is widespread amoung all races. My daughter has struggled with this all her life.....she is in her 30's now and still gets upset and depressed. It's hard to understand why your father (and all his relatives of which there were MANY) don't feel the need to be part of your life. She thinks that she did something wrong, or she's not good enough. I have let her know that THEY did something wrong, and THEY are not good enough.

This is a very important issue. You may can't repair a failed marriage, but you can still be a dad. You just got to ignore the BS, and drama, and remember that they are your kids and not your ex.

All I am saying is I am sick and tired of hearing single Moms complain about being single Parents and about how thier kids would have turned out so much better if their Dads would have been around. Its as if they did not know that they were going to be single moms when they fornicated and had children out of wedlock. Except responsibility for your actions and start being available emotionally and spiritually for your child. PS....single mother of 1 Military, 2 College....I wont complain

So its true what they say "once you go black you become a single mom".

Actually blacks evolved in the tropics where food for those that survived tropical diseases like malaria(still kills a kid in africa every 6 sec despite whites showing how to cure it) and single moms could feed any kids she had just with low hanging fruit. European medicine messed this up as blacks evolved to outbreed disease, and large numbers denuded the lands.

@airhoppz I've heard this a lot from my male friends. They have given up b/c there is just so much pain and hatred in so many black women's hearts that it's too much work trying to get close to them. It's sad. At the end of it so many black women won't get love they just get pregnant b/c dude doesn't see her as wife material just sex and the cycle continues.

@key01ed And black men stop having babies with women you know you won't marry, kids you know you don't want, and kids you know you won't raise. It's 2012 and everyone needs to do better.

A baby is not an accident. This girl is not an "accident". She is a blessing. It takes 2 to make a baby. 2 should share the responsibility. And if you are not ready for the responsibility or dont want it, too bad! Handle your responsibility before its too late!
