South Africa is now the crime capital of the world. Murder, rape, kidnap and armed robbery are rife. This film goes on patrol with The Special Task Force - the men who confront the criminals head on. Their job is to deal with the most dangerous situations - the ones the police can't handle. Cameraman Geoff Chagrin spent a year on patrol with the Special Task Force. During that time he recorded the most incredible front line action - hostage rescues, bank robberies, ambushes, drugs raids and kidnaps - and got to know the men who put their lives on the line everyday in the fight against crime in South Africa.

You cant compare military units and law enforcement because their duties are different...'

You can trade any experienced member of a top flight military unit with another and have the same general results after they've adjusted. They're certainly not going to thank you for turning their work into a personal pissing contest.

Why is anyone comparing Task Force to SWAT when they're apples and oranges? TF is for all intents and purposes a military special operations unit that works in a policing capacity. SWAT is a domestic police unit that is only trained, in most cases, to work in very controlled circumstances.

They are part of the South African Police Service (SAPS) under control of Division Operational Response Services. They are not part of the military/armed forces.

Military special forces are the South African Special Forces Brigade (aka Recces) which reports directly to the Joint Operations Division of the military. They have their own structure within the military (South African National Defence Force) and are not part of the army, navy, airforce etc but a structure on their within the SANDF.
