Written by Barbara Keith -From the Best of Meg Christian CD. This song was orginally done on Face The Music album with supporting vocals of Sweet Honey in the Rock. My first (original) upload and is dedicated to the women who paved the way.
I am sorry this video isn't as good as I would like it to be but it was my very first in April 2009. MEG Christian SINGING IS WHAT COUNTS. I will add the following message which Meg put on the album information for this song: After too many frightened, confused years of thinking I was the ONLY one, it was nothing short of a life-saving experience for me to find the support of the women's movement. That was in 1969. Sometimes now when the work seems too hard or the differences among us seem too great, this song puts me back in touch with the incredible bonds I discovered at the beginning, when I found my real home in the community of woman-identified women.
Maybe someday we will have a live video of Meg Christian singing this song. Let's hope. Anything is possible! Always remember that.

  • Yesterday 2-11-12 Whitney Houston passed. In 1988 The Stars and Strips (the military newspaper) called Judy Dlugacz and told her they had completed a survey in Europe and their favorite singer was Whitney Houston. Their second choice was Meg Christian.

I am adding this note to celebrate the lives and gifts of both women.

  • Beautiful video. Beautiful song!

  • @Seattlecarnut Hey...I hear there will be something very special Dec. 11th at the Triple Door in Seattle. Maybe you could enjoy that.

  • @megchristianfan I wish I could. I've heard of the Triple Door, but I've never been there. But I have a date at Benaroya Hall. The Seattle Men's Chorus is performing. Ever checked them out?

  • @Seattlecarnut Yep... I have listened here and liked it very much.

  • 12-6-11...WE hit 5,000! Hope to note the 10,000th view. Going to guess at a date for that happening...January 15, 2014.

  • @megchristianfan I am back. For posterity..."I would not have liked this song if I heard Joey Heatherton sing it first. It was the first song I fell in love with. Thank you Meg. I am looking forward to tomorrow night. " megchristianfan and then she said " I am too."

I needed to add this as I never want to forget that special moment. I wish you could have seen the beautiful smile on Meg's face when she said "I am too." Of all things, I wish I could give you that moment.

  • @strawberryseason Nope - My friend... It is the SONG that matters.

  • @strawberryseason Sorry not IL. It was a spot/hill I rented until this year. Had my Aliner camper parked there at the very top. Took my dog so we could get away when needed. It was nice.
