Speaking at a conference in New Delhi on Wednesday, Indias Home Secretary said that software companies in India are high on the terror threat list.
The two-day conference, which concludes on December 10, focuses on the challenge of terrorism to India's infrastructure and economy.
[G.K. Pillai, Home Secretary]:
"The software industry is high on the threat list. I think all the software companies in India are now realizing this. They are taking their own measures in which to try and see how best they can provide the maximum security and the government is in partnership with these software companies in an effort to provide the adequate security."
India's economy is one of the few world economies that has been able to sustain its economic growth despite the global financial crisis.
However this economic growth remains under constant threat due to the elements of extremism in and around the country, growing economic and social disparities and the absence of a cohesive national security policy.
