If you're familliar with the intro for the American broadcast of Iron Chef you've probably noticed a woman from Australia. This woman is Gillian Hirst. And in this episode which was never broadcast outside of Japan she's going up against Iron Chef Japanese Komei Nakamura. The theme ingredient is a rather interesting one. It is in fact ostrich!

  • This is not a food network dubbing broadcast. It's the original Japanese broadcast. Obviously now we are begging for someone to upload the dubbed version from Food Network. Please!!

  • @ultrustic Food Network never dubbed this episode...

  • Ummm... The first word, (even with a Japanese accent), is quite clearly 'Australia', with a picture of Uluru... so, no, she's not from New Zealand.

  • @quasima Sorry for that, Looked like a New Zealand flag when she entered. That's what I went after. I'll change the description!

  • @quasima Upon further investigation, there was no flag. I got this and the Hong Kong Challenger mixed up!

  • @xdfgf That's how us Aussies are. We get behind one another. :P

  • I suddenly want a Nissan

  • @UISCEBAITHE funny thing is, if my memory serves me correctly I watched this battle when it first aired way back when. there probably is a long-lost dubbed version of this battle somewhere

  • ah that sucks this was never dubbed. i'm aussie and i'd love to understand what they're saying better.

  • I don't know why they never dubbed this show. She's in the opening scene of every Iron Chef, and I was always curious about this striking female warrior striding into Kitchen Stadium to battle the Iron Chefs.

It doesn't seem like it should be that expensive to dub these shows, and channels like Cooking Channel could claim they'd have brand new content instead of repeating all the Iron Chef battles we've seen before on Food Network.

  • wtf ostrich hahaha

  • She's from Brisbane. I get that much. That's also a real Queensland accent she's got.

  • I love the energy of her "fans" when she first comes out. lol
