Svetlana is originally from Irkutsk region, Russia. She is not Russian-Kazak originally, though she is now. She actually competed for Russia, and has set Junior World Records while representing Russia, but she decided to change nationality, due to the fact that there is an evident "Moscow" lobby in Russian weightlifting, where Muscovites are given preferential treatment, even if they don't achieve higher results than non Muscovites. Also, competing for Kazakhstan has more material advantages.
