what about mobility? does having that space screw between there decrease the mobility of the patient?

I live in Buffalo, NY and meeting with a doctor who is one of a kind doing these miminally advasive surgeries where they put little medal plates at different levels to help with the spinal stenosis

What happens to the L3,L4 Discs above? Do they have more stress exerted on them causing them to fail?
