@roncram man...this sucks - gotta go to a special training facility for this kind of training huh? dang... the common guys like us are suckers...!!! I would love to work on training like this, just for the heck of it

@Dantedijon well this is my 2nd year and last year my first year i ran a 11.9 which was my best but i had shin splints the whole year, im currently in indoor right now and my first meet is this coming friday.
-
@The32694 My best time was 10.38 i believe because my timing coming out the blocks is too slow i really believe i can get at least 10.2 if i can get a great start out of the blocks that was back in high school i set the record as a freshman running 11 flat, even though im short i can stride thats how i pull off, when i went to regionals some dude beat me running a 10.1 i was mad i came in 2nd, im going to get back in shape and time myself when i drop my blood pressure wbu?
-
@Dantedijon i bet wat u run in the 100?
-
@The32694 If he run 27 mph then tyson gay is faster lol, when tyson gay ran a 9.84 on a 100 meter, they said he ran 28 mph or 29 i seen it a while back but its on here so im pretty sure usian run faster, i been tested without the strap back in high school ok i USED to run 26 mph ima see what i run now if i decreased or increased but high blood pressure aint no joke
-
@Dantedijon ok bro since usain bolt runs 27 mph
how fast can they run without the gear, and can they keep it up? That is the question

@thegamerkid77 This is a training technique. It uses muscular and neurological adaptations to improve first step quickness and lateral mobility.

@roncram
Dose it work, do they run any faster than someone who dose not use this method?
thegamerkid77 7 months ago
@thegamerkid77 They run faster than they could run before this training. Initially we recommend ( and the Canyon basketball team did this ) 8 weeks of training, coming in twice a week for a total of 16 training sessions. High school athletes generally improve their 40 yard dash times by 2 tenths of a second. More importantly, they improve in the first ten yards by 1 tenth of a second. Pro athletes would typically still be faster than a high school athlete who trained using this.

Not to discredit overspeed training, but athletes out there shouldn't be convinced it's gonna turn a slow athlete into speedy gonzales. I think it can be a good addition to training, but treadmills and harnesses don't make olympic sprinters

@plcollins1987 You are correct. An unweighted treadmill will not make a slow athlete into an Olympic sprinter. However the changes are real and significant. I trained football player who was the slowest offensive lineman on his junior college team and he became the fastest offensive lineman on the team. He is now playing Div I football.
