  • Incorrect - this was the flying 500m record.

  • Theo Bos set the 200m record at sea level (in Moscow). He felt the altitude of Bolivia gave too much of an advantage. The 500m record was set at the same track as Hoy's ride.

  • @teaboy1981 ummmm, no. theo bos did not set the 200m record at sea level because he thought the altitude of bolivia was too much of an adavantage. he did so because moscow is the fastest track in the world for flying 200s because when you come off the banks there you pretty much dive off a two storey building.... thats why the new 200 record by kevin sireau was also set there... moscow is just simply the fastest by a long shot for flying 200s

  • not a kilo...

  • two things, I think he could have ridden a larger gear and go faster, and he should make another attempt at the Kilo record in the new tracks in mexico, its not the same height but it is a wood and some what indoor track.

  • @recon455 Check analytic cycling, aerodynamics on the front wheel are much more important than on the rear wheel. The only reason a lot of cyclists don't use a front disc is handling problems.

  • amazing, average speed of 46 mph :D

  • at 12,000 feet the air in thinner yes, however the o2 in the air is less, so for every breath there is less uptake of oxygen which will mean the muscles will suffer, but over 500m it may not matter, as 500m is more anaerobic(without oxgen)

  • everytime i see Chris Hoy i think its amazing he can actually ride a bike, his legs are wider than my waist...

  • @AJ94Acura It would make them faster.. thinner air of course

  • You might think 12,000 ft elevation would slow the times.
