Spider-man 1 was actually Tobey Maguire almost constanly in the suit, because he had to get in shape for the role. However, after Spidey 1 he didn't keep up with his exercise or diet and became less fit.

As a result, his stunt-man got more and more screen time in the suit as the sequeals came. Spidey 3 barely had him wear it at all.
