An awesome sand dune park in Manhattan Beach, California, just south of LA Airport and about eight blocks from the beach, The park has been a fun and serious place to play and work out on the sand dune, steps alongside the dune and wooded walkway trails as well as the usual park playground at the bottom ("The Dune" portion of the park is temporarily closed). Views from the top looking down show El Segundo's Chevron Oil Refinery, a military storage and supply facility, a view to the east at residential Manhattan beach and directly below is the park entrance and playground for the kids.

  • is it open yet

  • yes...it's up and running, open by day and closed at night.

  • I went by there a couple of days ago to work out and saw that it was closed! A city employee working there said that the sand must be replenished ocasionally to counter the effects of

our feet and gravity. When it reopens I'll see you all doin da dune again!

  • @latourguide r u serious? its really open again? please dont b lying

  • My grandparents lived a 1/2 block from the bottom of the dune. I have my Dad's old 16mm silent movies digitized, with scenes of us as young kids (30-35 years ago), running down the dunes until our feet give out and we start tumbling. I'll upload and tag it soon.

  • I did this today for the first time and it took me a 1/2 hr just to climb it once. MRfreshiefresh is right it is a lot easier to climb up in your socks or barefeet. It's a good work out. Very challenging.

  • I was doin it today as part of our workout group and I saw Blake Griffin and some of the Clippers doing this workout.. was kinda cool we had my group the Kings and some Clippers there together... was a crazy workout

  • I went to Leuzinger. The cross country team use to run to sand dune park, run up the dune then run back to school, that's what they did for a workout. I'm just glad I stayed in football

  • aggree...1st time i ever did this...i made it like half way up and was like fuck this...ended up doing 3 befre i left...and every time it just got eaiser and eaiser...not wearing shoes helps ALOT!

  • I moved back to PA from the South Bay a few months ago. I really miss Sand Dune Park on Bell off of Rosecranz. What a great place for an afternoon workout.

Damn I miss the South Bay.
