  • My favorite scene was when we saw the Count crying, and then discovered he was laughing. Couldn't believe that he was so evil after all...

  • one of the best animes of all time. some of these scenes, especially this one, were so powerful.

the only thing i didn't like about it was the very ending.

  • @TheSpawnfan Actually, in the real story "The Count of Monte Cristo" by Alexandre Dumas, Mercedes went to Montego because she was pregnant with Albert, the Count's son. This anime was set to be more futuristic, but in the times of the actual story, women were stoned to death if they were pregnant and not married...She always believed Edmond would come back, and preserved his legacy as well. She actually suffered just as much as Edmond.

  • There are many animes out there. But this one touched me unlike most. It was hard to believe the Count pretty much used everyone to get what he wanted.

  • i actually liked the ending for this anime. i thought it suited it well. anyway.. this anime is EPIC!!!!!!

  • @CrazyLazyMonkey Oh yeah, i think he deserved to be happy alongside Haydeé. Another great scene was his battle against Albert's best friend. When Mercedez tried to stop it he attacked him even more viciously replying that it was proof that Edmond Dantès was dead.

  • @RupertMass He wasn't evil, but after spending a lot of time in prison, scared and alone, betrayed he was corrupted by hatred, i pity him and Albert, Haydeé, even Andrea but not Mercedez, she left him there and ran into the arms of Montego. It's surprising that he bears strong resemblance to Count Dracula (the books version) but then again, what better way to show the corruption that took over his soul?

  • @Epistolary8 Isn't it Kasamatsu Kouji - Kaishou?

  • The song that plays throughout the whole scene - I can't seem to find it anywhere on the OST.

  • thanks for putting this up. I really love that scene though it makes me get an AK-47 and shoot Count everywhere ( >:O )...can you tell me where i can find this version of kaisho please?

  • The movie is different yet very similar to the book. The whole mood is excellent and appropriate to the amazing novel story. If you want an equally great treat, read the book...

  • @RupertMass I knew he was evil the whole time. At first I remember being like "Oh, here's that "Cryi- no wait laughing" thing. but as it went on I started thinking perhaps even though he was kinda evil and what not that he felt some sympathy for what he was doing.
