Civil War Re-Enactment - Tryon, NC - March 21st, 2009

This is a small civil war reenactment which took place at Tryon, North Carolina. This was the first time I witnessed such an event, though I believe they usually have more participants.

This is the first time the folks at Tryon have put on an event like this, and there where quite a few people that came to watch.

I was planning to upload around 30 mins wort of video to Dailymotion (Youtube only allows 10 mins) but after having the upload fail 3 times I decided to try Youtube, which worked. Also this is the first video edited on my new Kunbuntu installation; kicked old Bill Gates to the curb! lol

  • @PresidentDRCI Most of them are scripted, they reenact how the battle actually took place. However, there are sometimes that the armies will have a tactical before the reenactment. So they have their own private battle essentially and anyone can try to take victory. But the reenactment itself is almost always scripted.

  • 7 confederates beat dismounted cavalry? I find that very unlikely, and some of the uniforms are not correct (example- Bluejeans, Tennis shoes, etc.) but otherwise very nice video. If only the reenactors made their uniforms look right.

  • I've always wanted to know, are all reenactments scripted, or free-flowing?

  • Come to this event this weekend. the reenactment is starting at 1 pm saterday and sunday

  • Fellow leading the Zouaves would this be any chance Ken Robison of the 17th NY Zouaves, if it is didn't realize it. I sent you the link to the video via email.

  • Yup I recognize this one, I was the Federal Infantry Commander, the fellow who was leading the Zouaves. Fairly good event.

  • Any idea when there will be another re-enactment there or nearby again? Also, was there an actual battle there? Thank! (I live nearby in Asheville)

  • There are usually more reenactors. You will find at events that are in their first year and espically ones that are not historical dont attract many reenactors at first, then they sometimes attract more.
