Ok maybe not THE hardest, but I believe it could possibly qualify.

ICP sensor leaking oil which in turn ruined the wiring harness. The computer is ignoring the ICP totally here, and this is why it was starting and running like this. When the computer ignores the ICP sensor the PCM opens and closes the IPR abruptly, looking at other sensors (CPS, EOT and EBPV) to determine what the ICP should be. Usually it sets it at 700 and 3000~ psi and that's it. I believe this is why it had such an un-stable idle. Got a new sensor and wiring harness and all is well.

  • mine wont start at 3 degrees it will start and just cough cough cough cough cough cough then die

  • @motocross817 Probably the ICP then. Try holding the go pedal to the floor. if it will idle at WOT, then it's the ICP.. Apparently the old version of the sensor leaks oil through the sensor body and into the wiring harness, the oil wicks up the wiring harness... insulation fails... shorting out the harness. If left long enough it can ruin the whole engine harness.. that's what happened here.

  • @mrfanman2u Bah.. powerstrokes dont wear out; they only get cranky with age ;)

  • The idle chug sounds great once you get it started. But why the hell did it die off again at 7:44? I thought for sure it would stay up that time.

  • now thats lope mode!!

  • @MrKenworthman112 the engine was devolped by isuzu. one of the best manufactures of diesel engines. the engines are made at gm plants along with the trucks in flint michigan. i would personaly have an engine designed by japs and made in america that runs like a champ other than a piece of shit that is changed every few years because ford cant get it right. the 6.6L platfroum has had minimal changes in over a decade. it is an all made in the usa truck and it is not cheep like fords

  • Im sure you know this but try putting hair dryer or a heat gun in the intake next time.

  • @xxbryan715xx Rice burner!!!!!!

  • DURAMAX!!!!!

  • Truck looks great, but for the love of GOD get rid of the pin striping. It looks terrible!

  • thats on big cam!!!!!!!!!!!! try using the block heater all 7.3l have them.. 94-2003. anyway look underneath where the oil filter is at the top of the housing you will see a orange color cord coming from it. follow to the front bumper and u will find an 110 vac plug. plug it in and i think it will help alot of your problem. my 7.3 stays about 70 deg at about 20 deg air temp. oh yea leave your vent on defrost this will prevent ice on windshield if the block is at 70 deg so is the heater core.

  • how is white smoke not pouring out of that pipe?

  • @jonny2k100 depends on the diesel there all different the 7.3l ford redline at about 3500 rpm and I believe the cumins does around there too stock but some of the duramax truck will go up somewhere around 4500 rpm
