[Spoilers]
As a fan of Carl Sagan's Cosmos and Halo, I put Carl Sagan's Pale Blue Dot monologue with video of Halo Reach.

Thanks a lot www.bungie.net for putting this video on the front page and thanks to all the new subscribers.

"We were hunters and foragers, the frontier was everywhere.
We were bounded only by the earth and the ocean and the sky.
The open road still softly calls our little tarraquest globe is the madhouse of those hundred, thousand, millions of worlds.
We who cannot even put our own planetary home in order, riven with rivalries and hatreds; are we to venture out into space?
By the time we are ready to settle even the nearest other planetary systems, we will have changed.
The simple passage of so many generations will have changed us.
Necessity will have changed us.
We're an adaptable species.
It will not be we who reach Alpha Centauri and the other nearby stars, it will be a species very like us, but with more of our strengths and fewer of our weaknesses.
More confident, far seeing, capable, and prudent.
For all our failings, despite our limitations and fallibilities, We Humans are Capable of Greatness.
What new wonders undreamt of in our time will we have wrought in another generation and another?
How far will our nomadic species have wandered by the end of the next century and the next millenium?
Our remote descendants safely erade on many worlds through the solar system and beyond, will be unified.
By their common heritage, by their regard for their home planet, and by the knowledge that whatever other life may be, the only humans in all the universe, come from Earth.
They will gaze up and strain to find the Blue Dot in their skies.
They will marvel at how vulnerable the repository of all our potential once was.
How perilous our infancy.
How humble our beginnings.
How many rivers we had to cross before we found our way." - Carl Sagan

  • I hate Halo: Reach, dude, but this video is so damn good. Wish you made this video with Halo 1, 2, 3, and ODST, along with Reach clips. Would have been much better.

This should be a tribute to Halo as a whole.

  • @FatMarshall I really wanted to do it that way. It was going to start with Reach, then Halo CE, Halo 2(pre Delta Halo), Halo 3: ODST, Halo 2(Delta Halo), Halo 3, and finally the last shot would be Halo Reach on the grassy field so that the video would have been in order according to the Halo timeline.

  • I think, if Carl Sagan were alive right now, he would be perplexed, wondering why he strove for so long to acheive intellectual greatness and support scientific advances of all kinds, only to learn how few of his devout followers were able to post a YouTube comment without using the word "fuck". He would also probably have something to say: "HELP! Get me out of this coffin!"

  • @sandalphon333 Oh we all know the first thing Carl Sagan would do if he were reanimated. He would go to Francis Ford Coppola's house and beat the shit out of him for the shit he pulled over Contact. Suing a man after he dies, that's low.

  • How can you even dislike this?

  • Absolutely stunning! You sir, are a genius!

  • Mind blown. Great video.

  • @sageSPH And even at that, we'd only change so much.. I seriously doubt we can grow another arm. =P But, really, how much have we changed at all?

  • This is not his 'Pale Blue Dot' monologue. Good video anyway, though.

  • @Starpilot149 Yee, evolution isn't improvment (that's a common misconception), it's adaptation. Basically, we will change naturally only if we need to.

  • true so very true

  • @FatMarshall I love Reach! I know it doesn't follow chief but it fits perfectly!

  • A future where each day is brighter than the one before, and we are free.

    Free to dream recklessly.

  • A still more glorious dawn awaits, not a sunrise, but a galaxy-rise!
