This is a clip from the 3 hour video that shows you how to render a soccer cleat using only illustrator. The final rendering looks like it used photoshop, but the fact is that the entire design was rendered only using illustrator. The techniques can be applied to any product design or industrial design products.

...that means you have an advantage, if you ever wanted to get into digital rendering. The beauty of this is that due to the fact its vector, it never never looses quality. You can draw this thing on an art board 1"x1" and then blow it up to 3'x3' and never nothing will distort or alter. What they don't tell STUDENTS IN SCHOOL and on the beginning of these videos (about illustrator) you must have a good pencil/ink drawing to begin.
