What is Strong? Strong is The Power Within. Strong is knowing you are different and that others may not accept who you are. Strong is finding The Power Within you to move forward even when everyone around you is showing you no support. Strong is not giving up.

Lately presidential candidates like Rick Perry have presented themselves as very weak and shallow minded individuals. They are not trying to be strong for the masses but instead use the internet as a platform to ridicule. They make a weak attempt to isolate those who do not share their conservative beliefs.

So who can we look to for strength and to inspire us not just with their words but with their actions? Host Diana Terranova would like you to meet a group of amazing artists and authors from Northwest Press. She finds their words inspiring and admires the hard work they have put into helping young people in the community.

Zan Christensen, Mark Brill, Jon Macy, Justin Hall and David Kelly live their lives out loud, with pride, passion and no fear of how others may judge their artwork.

Northwest Press decided to create a comic book to share their message about finding "The Power Within". Most adult gay people can remember vividly how difficult it was to be a teenager. They were bullied simply for being true to who they were. In addition, many of them didn't fit in for the usual reasons like they were geeky, gawky or just no matter what they did, they could never quite "fit in"

Because those experiences, the tragedies like the recent teen suicides were even more devastating for them to hear about.

Fall of 2010 was a turning point Zan . The news reports acknowledged the role anti-gay bullying played in many teen deaths, and the excuses for the bullies seemed flimsier than ever. Peoples' eyes were opened to the fact that anti-gay harassment shouldn't have to be a part of growing up any more than sexism or racism should, and that there were grave consequences for ignoring the problem.

In September, Dan Savage started the It Gets Better Project, whose aim was simply to speak directly to young people through YouTube video testimonials and reassure them that, even if they are struggling now, their lives will get better. Thousands of people added their voices, and a movement came to life.

Please watch our video filmed live at Comic-Con 2011 with My Geek Universe host Diana Terranova. Many thanks to Zan Christensen, Jon Macy, Northwest Press and the Staff and Fans of comic-Con 2011. Camera by Collier Landry.

Please support the music of Katy Perry. She has been a stand out supporter of the community, a voice for today's youth and an inspiration to many.
