What a weekend for Mid Hants Railway, having 4 visiting locos at Mid Hants Railway, with the weather was lovey at the start and awful at the last. I filmed over two days on the Friday and the Sunday of the Gala, with visiting of each stations and the popular location of Northside Lane. The gala was a success over the weekend with the numbers of the visitors. Gala went off in a bad way with a cable theft between Medstead and Alton saw trains was running 10 mins late on Friday then 30mins late on Sunday due to SR Lord Nelson class no.850 Lord Nelson failed at Alton currently unknown what happened to her. The gala was a mix feel to it as a feel of Kings cross with the LNER while feel of the Big Four with standard even though no GWR was in steam however GWR present was still there as GWR 5205 class no.5224 was still at the railway.
Locos lineup :-
LNER A4 class no.60019 Bittern running as no.4492 Dominion of New Zealand
LNER A1 class no.60163 Tornado
LNER N2 class no.1744
BR standard 7MT no.70000 Britannia
Resident locos:-
BR 9F no.92212
LMS Black 5 no.45379
SR U class no.31806
SR Lord Nelson class no.850 Lord Nelson
SR West Country class no.34007 Wadebridge
We start the day at Alresford seeing 4492 Dominion of New Zealand arriving and shunting stock around then departing at Ropley with a careful start. Then we head out to the shed yard to see no.850 Lord Nelson getting coaled up and no.31806 backing down the shed before we see no.60163 Tornado coming into the station while no.1744 makes its first trip up the alps. Then we headed to Northside Lane to see no.34007 Wadebridge on shuttles, no.4492 Dominion of New Zealand and no.45379. 9F no.92212 on frieght duties while no.70000 Britannia brings down the passengers back to Alresford. Then just before going back to Ropley we see the first double header of the gala no.70000 and no.60163 Tornado. Then along the footpath the U and the N2 double header pass the footpath.
