  • Saying that half of the British Army at the time was Irish :)

  • @TheRichiecha Half of the Rebel Army was English , and half on excecution had to be given last rights by Church of England and not catholic.

  • Upto Half of the Irish rebel army was English !!!

  • Fr. Murphy was NOT captured at Vinegar Hill. He was captured at Tullow in Co. Carlow on July 2nd. Anthony Perry was NOT killed in the battle but was captured and hung in Co. Offaly on June 12th. He led most of the Rebels, numbering about 10,000, who escaped from Vinegar Hill south toward Wexford Town, although, as usual, the English perpetrated atrocities upon those who were captured. The Battle of Vinegar Hill was not the end of the '98 but was a crushing defeat.
