Email your question to newsquestions@ap.org. (June 12)Hello, I'm Matt Friedman and this is Ask AP. Today's question is about an underused alternative source of oil [Notes:transition to graphic] It comes from Minnesota. Why we don't hear more about extracting oil from oil shale fields now that oil has become so expensive?Oil shale is an underground rock that contains a substance that can be released as petroleum when heated. AP business writer John Porretto writes that no one has has figured out how to extract the oil in a way that's environmentally sensitive and commercially viable on a large scale. The process is more complicated than pumping oil from wells. It's also raised air and water pollution concerns. One expert says that it oil prices remain above a hundred dollars a barrel, oil shale is probably feasible. But, he says there's no guarantee that they will remain this high. [Notes:on camera]If you have a question about an A-P story, write to us. The address is newsquestions at A-P-org. OK, let's just leave it at this...
There's a high percentage of predictability on
creating a "change in pressure" and there are certain elements that can be definitely counted on...say, like creating the conditions---no problem with that whatsoever....the UNPREDICTABLE factor is **what***the consequences WILL BE from the storm's rage!

If you're a gun owner and you trust that our government is protecting your rights to own weapons, you're being, ONCE AGAIN, mislead
In spite of two NRA groups endorsing this legislation, what came out was NOT what was proposed. AND THIS MY FRIENDS is how the cookie crumbles

I used to be an enviromentalist. However, with gas at 4 bucks a gallon, soon to be 5 bucks... and oil going up everyday, we need to do something! Either we get off our oil addiction or we tear this planet up for oil! Anyways, the effects wont be felt for years to come. Gas prices affect us now! It shames me that the Democrats blocked a bill that would allow for drilling in our own country.
