@DrDonGCSUS Thanks so much for explaining this. Sigh.

I wanted to share what I have seen. There are many people accusing other Deaf people of Audism and Deaf Hate Crime. How come no one said anything when the person who accused others of Audism and Hate Crime was the real offender? In fact, we all are Audist in different ways it is because of our upbringing and barking at people is not the way to go, IMHO.

Wow.

It is sad but true that these audistic thoughts exist that may be caused by ignorance and presumptions that they impose on Deaf children who grow up oral. Don, what a classic vlog and it's definitely gonna be my fav!

I have a question. As a teenager in the beginning of learning sign language, i've stumbled upon quite and predicament. What language to the deaf, or hard of hearing think in? It may seem a silly question, but when you cannot hear to learn the English language, would that mean you think in images or other visual cues?

@IwantToeatyourcheese Hello cheeseater -- (sorry I don't have any for you) ;-)
It varies -- some Deaf who were raised orally and benefit from it do think in English. But I have met others who tell me they think in signs/ASL. The big question is how Deaf think before they learn any language (spoken or signed) -- my suspicion is that they think in images.

Please define dysconacious. I can't find it in my dictionary.

@grandma2maj Hi Grandma -- Dysconscious audism was taken from the idea of dysconscious racism -- the idea that racist (or audist) ideas are internalized by the minority group, and then find their way out in statements or thinking by members of that same minority group which are negative toward their own kind. It is "dysconscious" because it is not functional or healthy thinking. Think of it like "self-hatred".

Hi DrDonGCSUS, I saw this video in the Deafhood Dicussion on the Facebook. May I have your permission to post this vlog in the ASLRocks? There is a good discussion under "What is Audism detail?" by Philatino yesterday. This video is just perfect. Nice to meet you. ;)
