great line up!!!

@KGuitarH And in addition to that, it really tells what a great hobby flying is. To get away from all. To be only you and your airplane.

Why is this song so extremely unknown and therefor underrated?
It's absolutely beautiful! I first heard it when I was 4 and it's still one of my absolute favorite songs, one of the greatest songs ever in my opinion!

@SilverTounge85 How do you arrive at this information concerning 'Skies'? I think you're dreaming....

with the possible exception of Pictures of Home, this is my fav. Purple track of all time.

When I close my eyes and hear the guitar I think I am realy in airoplane, oh I am a pilot :)

Agreed. And I have to say one thing here - Ritchie Blackmore may have been more creative, more innovative, definately a bigger ego. Definately an AWESOME guitarist. But Steve is better. In terms of precision of playing, articulation and whatnot. And being a Purple fan for years, as I grow older I find myself liking morse-era DP more then ritchie era DP... And it's just my opinion, to which I am entitled just as you all are to yours... :)

Idiot?

It is no important if this is or not a DP tipical sound. The sound of '70 is end. When Blackmore is gone out from the band, that sound is end. This is a beautiful song and it is not important if it does not like a DP classical song. Morse is a different guitar player and therefore the new songs are very different, but I like them as well.
