no she doesn't, it's called a chest register. if soprano roles with strong chest registers aren't your thing, you're listening to the wrong composer.

  • He sings with the perfect technique!

  • HIM AND SCOTTO , THE BEST

  • Great!! I sang with Manuguerra a couple of times in Miami in the seventies. He had a fabulous voice and was a truly nice guy. Varady also had an excellent voice, plus the best teacher in the world - Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, to whom she is still married. Thanks for posting this.

  • this was a great performance in London - both these artists performed to their utmost ability and some. The tape is slurring badly

  • she sounds like a man - this is running way too slow.

  • Brava Julia Varady, underrecorded soprano with superb voice colour and expression !!!

  • Excellent performance. Varadys low register is really impressive!

  • what did you do to this recording? is it running too slow?

I have the same performance and it doesn't sound that muffled as if there would be a problem with the tape.
