Iggy Pop was the lead singer of The Stooges, a late 1960s/early 1970s rock band who were influential in the development of the nascent hard rock and punk rock genres. In this interview he seems to express the method behind the madness.

  • Iggy is far from decrepit. he is genuinely interested and engaged with the whole process. In everything he has ever done it's all entertaining-even his interviews. I thanks the cosmos he ever came into being.

  • A bit coked up yes, but mostly the guy is just naturally one hell of an animal. And he just got done performing and is out of breath. He's no meathead, Iggy is one intelligent fellow.

  • now in the hall of fame !! people need time to understand things !

  • From memory there was Fats Waller, Howling Wolf and Sun Ra. Great interview, great interviewer, thanks uploader. (bad title but thats a moot point, he's really together here.) ta.

  • I couldn't hear him real well: could anyone tell me who Iggy said his favorite musicians growing up were? I got Cab Calloway, but the others I wasn't sure of.

  • Have a look at Tom Snyder interviewing John Lydon and Keith Levene of PIL...three, maybe four interviews, each one fascinating...the earliest very defensive/antagonistic in equal measures, and the later ones more more enlightening in other ways - Snyder begins to empathise with Lydon, and Lydon appreciates the chance to dispense with all the hysteria and talk about his art.

  • I love the way Iggy becomes more lucid as time goes on, to the point where he educates his host, and half the audience, about Dionysian vs Appollonian art..love it :)

  • @cattycakes64 well said

  • @cattycakes64 Totally agree- well put.

  • Since when is Sun Ra conventional? Are you serious?
