For my Silat teachers, as well as my friends in this art, Silat is the ability to protect your loved ones. We don't fool around with it or show how badass we are, we use it when we really have to.

This feeling is widespread among Silat practitioners. It's probably why Silat as a sport never really took off. We treat it as a concealed poisoned blade we carry for safety. I mean, look at the thin guru at 4:51. When you first saw him, did you think he could wipe the floor with you?

nampaknya, ilmu guru-guru tua di Tanahair, masih banyak yang boleh kita gali untuk menjadi bekalan. Tuan Maul beruntung mendapatkannya dan terima kasih kerana sudi sharing dengan kami semua peminat silat...

  • Maul, when I was in my early teens I studied Silat here in The Netherlands. My guru used to talk about his kampung, where teachers and students would gather, and perform Silat. Even with the modern age twist, cellphones, sneakers, baseballcaps, this is exactly as how I pictured these meetings to be in my head. Thank you for this, take care Sir.

  • I wish I could study this great art.
