A thought...there is one reason why America must stay together. Yes it needs reforms, even drastic ones, and yes, the southron people and other Americans who believe the the PC crap we hear today is NOT the real America are in danger of losing their culture. But if we appear too weak and divided, won't that leave the doors open for the foreign hoardes whom all true Americans fear; be they illegals coming North or Islamic Terrorists! That's my two cents.

rockandroll1110 - the flag of Saint Patrick is an "X" like the Scottish flag but is a red cross on a white background. I don't know the origin of the St Patrick cross but Patrick wasn't crucified.

The Scots are associated with St. Andrew because St. Andrew was told by Christ to go only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. He did. The Scots once were known as Scythians and lived in Southwest Russian. St. Andrew is also the patron St. of Russia. The Scots migrated North and West according to prophecy to the British isles. Later they migrated en masse to Dixie. And now you know the area as "Jesus Land", "The Bible Belt", and "God's Country". It happened for a reason.

The Scots have no connection to Scthia. You may be getting confused with the earlier celtic peoples which the Welsh are related .These celts were all over Europe until the Germanic (English,Germans, etc) tribes moved west. The Scots came to Britain about 450 AD and were an Irish tribe called the Scotti (sp). They pushed the welsh (ancient Britons ) south and the Picts east, and settled in the highlands. The Scottish cross was chosen as it is a well known Chrstian symbol-going back to Christ

Sorry, 785634120, I disagree! The Western Islands, Coast & HIghlands are Irish-descended and Gaelic speaking--they're Celts. I don't deny Angle influence or that Scots is a Germanic language. But to deny the Highlands are Celtic is like saying the Holocaust never happened! When St. Columba came to Christianize us, the whole Western coast was already Irish-settled. The very name SCOTLAND comes from the first queen of Ireland, Scota! In fact, the original meaning of Scot was an Irishman!!!

recent genetic analysis has revealed the existence of two Pictish Y chromosome signatures which are most common in Scotland, but rarely seen in England or continental Europe. The YSTR27 test will determine your relationship to the Pictish signatures.
