All the good things Jefferson did and this lady has tunnel vision like a tabloid. She missed all the witnesses that were also at Montichello who never once identified TJ as wanting to have a concubine. Her witnesses are men who had something to gain by tellling lies. She missed the part about his brother always hanging out in the slaves cabins.

Annette Gordon-Reed is "flat out" stating on her book cover and inside that TJ fathered 7 of Sally's children. And just think.........she is on one of the Monticello boards. The public is being "conned. This is a vast agenda to "nail" TJ for owning slaves NOT to give the public of what was done on the DNA Study.

@herbar1 How can you be so sure? No one is stating definitively that Jefferson was the father. Maybe this old lady is but most just say it's more likely than not. Plus, the reality was that Jefferson's brother lived pretty far away and rarely visited Monticello. What, did he sneak to the plantation in the middle of the night to knock up a slave he didn't even know?

Helen Leary was invited to be on the 13 Scholars Commission to investigate this fiasco, she declined. Read Thomas Jefferson Heritage Society web page. She credits Madison Hemings to be a reliable source as does Annette Gordon-Reed BUT he or the reporter LIED about several claims. She claims Randolph was not the father, yet she did not realize that the Eston Hemings family claimed their ancestor to be "a Jefferson uncle or nephew" (Randolph & sons), NOT Thomas.
