Golden Rule in scaring someone: KEEP IT SIMPLE! My brother did this to his wife (who’s terrified of the dark): she came home from work and entered the pitch-black house, she reached for the light-switch but the switch wouldn’t click-on; no matter how hard she pushed it wouldn’t budge, hearing her panic, he made several loud banging noises from the cellar, she gave an almighty scream and bolted out of the house and didn’t return for two hours. My brother had simply cello taped the switch down!
