@mrwobbleslots so you've NEVER downloaded ANY music? I find that VERY hard to belive. as Lotsofgeatses said musicians dont really care too much. They say well 1 000 000 000 people listening to my music by illegally downloading is better than only 100 people listening to it from buying the album. and whats the difference between a video on youtube and downloading music? your still listening to the artists music without them getting a cent.

@Lotsofgoatses The difference being wal-mart can put security guards, cameras and alarms to deter most. The music industry has no such defence against theft. Most of the music industry are having to cut, or already have cut 20-30% of their staff almost entirely due to illegal downloading. Wal-mart have lost less than 0.1% of their staff. Either way if you steal from EMI or Wal-mart you're still stealing, you are still a thief.

Listen, If you open up a Wal-mart, you know that people will steal from you. Do you go and make a big fuss about it? No, you cut your losses and keep going on, because in the end you're still making a ton of money. Most musicians today really don't care about illegal downloading. They cut their losses and move on. You're making a bigger deal about it than they ever will.

@mrwobbleslots a musician's passion, drive and inspiration all come from the desire to perform and entertain surely....it's a profession that comes from a hobby. that's why i don't feel guilty downloading for free anyway. but jesus christ i'm not looking for an argument don't cut my balls of verbally lol

@Baaatt, a musician's passion comes from the fact that music is their life. They dedicate the entirety of their life studying it, training on one or more instruments and then expressing their emotions through them. It is not something they do to pass the time. It is the very essence of their being, not a hobby and thats not even taking into consideration the people employed in the music industry.

But whatever helps you sleep at night = )

In this day and age, if you create music, you expect people to download it illegally. If you don't want people to download your music, don't become a musician. Simple as that.

Just because you expect it doesnt make it right. I expect the USA to invade countries against international law, the UK to do whatever the USA say, the chinese to ignore human rights and the taleban to have no regard for women. Just because it is expected doesn't make it right.
