  • You could do this a lot easier if you had a lathe. I mention this in my construction article that will be on woodgears.ca starting tomorrow 1/30/12. But, you can still do “turning operations” by using a drill press and accomplish a similar result.

  • True, for standardized sizes. However this process allows you to make whatever outside diameter you wish.

  • @Tekarien No, not at all...this was done this way to show you how to accomplish the task if you currently didn't have a lathe. Set up the right way, a drill press can do quite a bit of lathe work for you.

  • Forgive my complete (seriously) ignorance, but is a lathe inappropriate for this?

  • Ron, thanks for all the great tips & tricks...keep up the good work mate...

  • Very clever!

  • You are a true genius! Love the information I get from your videos!

  • As always informative - Thx Ron.

  • if you carve out the inside with a routertable, wouldn't it be easier to round over the outside with a roundover bit? (of course you would need the proper diameter, but it seems like a much simpler operation)
