Here at The Home Depot, we have a new string head from Ryobi. It fits the entire Ryobi family of trimmers along with other brands including Homelite, Toro, John Deere, Cub Cadet, and others. This is the easiest bump feed head to reload. Let us show you how.
@hotstuff7655 The new ones aren't reliable. Mine barely runs anymore after 2 years it's been to the shop 2 times and I've worked on it 5 times.

I purchased this after watching the video. Was skeptical, but very pleased after putting to use. The bump feed works perfectly and the plastic is very heavy duty. Best replacement head I've found so far. Using it on my Cub Cadet 4175.

This worked on my newer homelite (bought summer 2010). There's no retaining ring but you do need to unscrew the head and align the holes (arrows too) with the eyelets. The rest is as shown here pretty much

Very good. I was floundering 'til I saw this. The manufacturers' instructions are hopeless.

The Ryobi string trimmers are pretty easy to re-spool and the engines are reliable. Mine has been in use for 6 years now. Never been to the shop.
