"We didn't need lines, WE HAD FACES!".. Great movie..

50s directors were twisted...making big box office off of having grand actresses grovel in depricating roles in their old age, like Davis and Crawford in Baby Jane, or Davis in All About Eve. To her credit as the supreme actress of all time, Swanson rises above the cruelty of the phsycotic has-been character Wilder gave her, and gave a performance even more captivating than the parody itself. What other actress can be judged the greatest with just one performance? Only the great Swanson! Bravo!

@SugarBangTV Have you hit your breaking point yet?

George C. Scott turned in the best performance ever by an Actor in Patton. Gloria Swanson turned in the greatest performance ever by anyone in Sunset Boulevard.

A cinematic masterpiece!

She's so fabulous, She is really a star. I wish there was more of this type of acting nowadays, maybe I'd be more interested in going to the movie-theatre.

they call it the Golden Age of Hollywood for a reason..............

This is really an iconic scene!
Mr. DeMille never did give Norma Desmond her 'close-up'.
Gloria Swanson gives the greatest female performance ever on film.
Swanson was nominated along with another legend Bette Davis and likely the two grand movie dames split the votes and the Oscar wen to Judy Holliday in Born Yesterday. Seen today in retrospect should have won for her iconic performance in Billy Wilder's scalding masterpiece of Hollywood. William Holden is magnificent in support.
