How are you getting such good sound on this upload? What camera do you have? The mic is really good, the full fidelity of the recording really comes across....

Actually, this, along with my other "live" record recordings, is a straight line recording to a Hi-8 camera - reason for all the hiss is the irritating auto leveling on the camera - definitely when a mixer comes in handy. ;)
Other than that, thank Grado for the amazing cartridge (model 78E) and 3 mil elliptical needle. :)

Hi, This was cut on December 31, 1944 in a 5 song session with Dizzy's band. Interlude, No Smokes Blues (two cuts), East of the Sun, and Signing Off.

Yeah, Sarah really galavnized the band - I've never heard a Dizzy-led band, studio or otherwise, sound quite like this.
Wonderful early stuff from the both of 'em.
