Part four finishes up the series with assigning Freestyle Dash to a Hard Drive, testing loading a Xbox 360 ISO from a USB external hard drive, loading a XBLA game, loading a SNES emulator and ROM, changing to a new FSD skin, running FSD Indexer to add content to the dashboard, and injecting launch.xex into the NAND to auto-boot FSD on boot.

I hope you've enjoyed the guide, and that the knowledge you gained from these videos may go on to help many other modders.

  • theres no such thing as flashing jtag with usb isnt there ?

  • @RodneyHalo3

There is, however LPT is the most common and cheapest method. Then again, downloading a 512MB NAND via LPT can take anywhere from 5 to 30 hours per dump depending on your computer. For a 512MB dump, you can just use -r 256 and that's fine (The dash only takes up the first 64MB + some extra blocks)

It's called a JTAG USB SPI tool. Just google it. I didn't put raw wiring into the guide, since it assumes you already have your wiring method done. Hope that helps.

  • Whats your gamertag?

  • @HaloHamstur

I don't like Xbox Live, as I for multiplayer I only play online PC games (CounterStrike Source, Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead 2). I like modding 360s and 360 single player games (Mass Effect 1!), but really dislike playing on Live due to so many jerks, and the lack of teamwork in team-based games. I don't have a Live gamertag, and the system stays offline.

  • @QuackMasterDan ok... I got it... I've ordered my "ordinance" and in a lil over 3 days from now i will try my hand. Ty for your info. You have helped me buttloads... I'm CainLive EFnet, hope to chat with you there sometime... well I've been @ this for over 12 hours straight lol... sun is up so i'm going to get some rest b4 i retrace my bases. TY again :)

  • @QuackMasterDan Ty for introducing me to EFNets #freeboot too btw... extremely cool of you.

  • @QuackMasterDan WTShit? Thank you soo much... you just saved me hours/days of research time... i just found some Very up to date "techniques" thanks to your words here... TY :)

  • @JacobCain86

Persistence, the answers do exist, somewhere on the internet. If you truly get stuck, look for EFNets #freeboot. That's excellent that you're getting started on modding, this video is very old now, the current method is the Reset Glitch Hack. I have yet to make a video on it (need a spare box XD). Take it slow, don't get angry. As long as you have a backup of the NAND, unless you step on the motherboard, you can always restore to try again. Good luck!

  • @QuackMasterDan " If you want to become a modder, you'll need to be able to teach yourself with google." I love that line. I say the same thing but replace the word modder with, well almost anything. I'm just starting to learn. I have aquired 4 xboxs b4 09 and am wanting to jtag but still learning the process & "Theory" Any tips? If not wish me luck... :)

  • fantastic tutorial QMD, you've really done your homework, thanks for sharing your knowledge on this, peace and happy hacking

  • @TheProject118

That isn't the kernel number your giving me.

The system info file is like this: D:2.0.9199.0 – k:2.0.9199.0(BK:2.0.1888.0)

You're giving me BK, base kernel, the original kernel that the operating system is based on. The number you need is K:2.0.XXXX.0. You've got a slim, which is manufactured after August 2009, so no, your system can't be JTAG'd. If you want to become a modder, you'll need to be able to teach yourself with google.

  • Kick ass tut man!

  • Brilliant tutorial dude, I was having trouble trying to get arcade titles to work and cover art etc but this really helped me. Thanks!
