In this video I give you my recommendations for some good free screen recording software.
Hopefully this will help you kick off your YouTube career on a good note.
BBflashback express.

BBflashback works a lot better with Vista/7's Aero mode, if you have it set to max frame rate your going to have a smooth video that's of high quality. When recording make sure you use "Autoscroll" and have the recording dimensions set to 640x360 when exporting.
Camstudio (Download + Lossless codec)
http://camstudio.org/
Make sure you use the lossless codec and have autopan enabled, and reocrd using a fixed resolution of 640x360, this will make sure you have extermly high quality settings for YouTube. Without losing quality.
ScreenToaster(Online screen recorder, no downloading)
http://www.screentoaster.com/
Don't worry about HD settings, when it uploads to YouTube, the HD settings are automatically applied.
Techsmith Jing
http://www.jingproject.com/
I have to say, this might not be your best bet for making screen casts, it doesn't have a feature where you can export into a differnt format, and also there are no HD settings. And since it records using the same method as camtasia, it might make Vista/7 a little sluggish while recording.
I have chosen not to incude the link to Zdsoft as it is no longer free, if you want it then do a google search for it. But to be honest it's not even that good, it's really laggy when recording, the quality is rubbish, and the audio quality is terrible. I used to use it for my first Tutorial videos. Honestly it's not worth. I apologise for this error.
Is CamStudio compatible with Windows 7?

I was also wondering why Screen Toaster won't work for some reason, why I type it in to the URL it keeps coming up with site forbidden. Is this because I'm using the latest Internet Explorer and it may only be compatible with certain Internet servers, for example.Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome?

@t0pg3arlad Yeah Screentoaster only works with FireFox and Google Chrome.
