Dead on Time
On Sunday he clocked-in his time card
then promptly dropped down dead
which was fortunate for him
he would be paid at double time
As the ambulance carted the body away
his colleagues shook their heads
then put down their newspapers
and shared out his sandwiches
Silence reigned in the workshop
a minutes hush, a token of respect
then they played cards as usual
until lunch time
