I was maybe sixteen years old, pissing it up in a pub in Christchurch - maybe the Hillsborough or the Gladstone - I thought Chris Knox was the ugliest frontperson for any band I'd ever seen. I'm so pleased to have witnessed such genius. He shook me up and made me realise what crap mainstream music was/still is. I know you're not reading this but my thoughts are with you and yours Chris. I owe you a debt of gratitude for opening my adolescent eyes. All the best
