"Safe in My Garden" The Mamas & the Papas

Although they were only together from 1965 to 1968, The Mamas & the Papas were one of the most significant vocal groups of the late 1960s. "Safe In My Garden" written by group member, John Phillips, is from their 1968 album, Papas & Mamas, on Dunhill Records. It is available on CD in the Complete Anthology box set on the Universal Uk label and and Creeque Alley: The History Of The Mamas & The Papas on MCA. It has always been my favorite Mamas and Papas song.

For me, this song stands above all of the others, perhaps because it expresses, in such a poignant manner, both the agony and the ecstasy of our time.
